When Lila was 10 months old she had Chicken Pox, since then, she's never been sick. We've had a couple very minor colds, but no fevers or anything more than a little sniffle. On Tuesday evening I picked Lila up early because we were under a blizzard advisory (which is really really unusual for our area) and she felt warm and was coughing. By that evening she was running 103! I did my best not to flip out, but I have to admit if there hadn't been 1/2 inch of ice and blizzard like conditions, we probably would have been at the E.R. (I know most kids run 103 on a regular basis, but Logan and I don't run fevers, so, in my opinion 103 is blistering hot!) So, we spent the evening watching the snow plows go by and watching The Land Before Time. Lila finally went to sleep at about 1:30. Her fever was gone by morning, but we went to her pediatrician's office anyway. Due to the weather conditions, only one doctor was in, so we waited in the tiny little room for 52 minutes. Let me point out that we now know that even when Lila is really sick, she does not act sick. She's grouchy, but still bouncing off of the walls. I'm surprised the blinds were still on the windows by the time we got out of that office. It was a loooong 52 minutes. The doctor sent us upstairs for X-rays and of course the X-ray tech had left early because of the weather. So we got sent to the hospital. So after 3.5 hours we finally found out that Lila had a minor case of pneumonia. Other than waiting not being one of our strong points, we really didn't have a bad experience. The pediatrician we saw was great, the hospital staff was wonderful, and Lila hopes we can eat in the cafeteria again soon. Since Lila's been sick, we really haven't left the house this week, we've had several pajama days. I think I've created a monster, Lila pretty much refuses to put clothes on now.
Tet, which is the Vietnamese celebration of the first day of the new year was February 3rd this year. We celebrated in a very low key way this year (in pajamas of course). We made a Vietnamese flag, ate Chinese food (the closest Vietnamese restaurant is an hour away), and read "Ten Mice for Tet".Sick Little Girl

Can you tell the fever was gone?

Heading to the doctor.

Making our flag, thanks for the idea Jenna!

Poor Lila! :-(
But she still looks cute--even when she's sick!
I LOVE the finger-painting flag idea! I'm SO going to do that next year!
OH I just adore that last photo.
I'm so sorry Lila was so sick, what a little trooper. So glad she is ok!
